Members of the CFA Leader Academy wanted to do something to help our environment and community. We reached out to the St. John Parish Animal Shelter and offered to gather donations for their dogs. They had just rescued over a hundred stray, sickly, and abused dogs and needed help providing for them. We spread the word around our school via announcements and flyers to encourage our peers to donate dog necessities. The shelter asked that we donate toys, towels, beds, food, treats, cleaning supplies, etc to help make the rescued dogs’ lives easier and more comfortable. All members of the Leader Academy donated whatever they could and so did many others. Students all around the school brought a few items for the dogs and teachers and staff helped as well. We gathered large amounts of food, toys, and even clothes. What we did, as a school, could have saved innocent dog lives. We got together to provide assistance to those who needed it and the results were fulfilling.
