During the month of October, the West Jeff Guidance Department completed their “College Application Month”. During this month they had multiple colleges come into the school and set up table sits during lunch to interact with the students. Some of the colleges included University of Louisiana at Lafayette, La Tech University, University of Louisiana at Monroe, LSU, Northwestern, Xavier University, and Holy Cross College just to name a few. Teachers and staff also were asked to wear their favorite college or alumni shirts as our official “kick off” and “closing ” of the month. The department also set up an informal presentation of Greek Life on college campuses by having members of different greek organizations come on campus and show students some of what Greek life is and the positive things they can gain from attending college. Lastly, they hosted a College Informational Night on 10/28/15 where students and parents who attended gained a plethora of information surrounding applying for colleges, scholarships, internships, ACT scores, and what students could do to increase their chances of being accepted into colleges.
Below are pictures of our first seniors to receive acceptance letters to college. Kyle Pollar and Shawayne Lee were accepted to Dillard University and Donque Sullen was accepted to Northwestern State University. Congratulations to them!
